SHINE

The Center’s landmark park prescription program, Stay Healthy In Nature Everyday (SHINE), is a partnership with the East Bay Regional Parks District and UCSF. SHINE provides low-income East Bay families exposure to the outdoors and environmental education, and trains doctors to “prescribe” nature. The Center for Nature and Health has engaged more than 2000 children and caregivers in over 100 monthly field trips. Outings include free transportation from our main campus, food, and the participation of a trained naturalist. For many families, this has been their first time visiting a regional park.
